Importance of College Education to Me Stephen Nuamah Ashworth College ID: AC1209774 Health Care Administration Why College Education is Important to Me Am I free? I asked myself over and over again after reading a quote â€Å"Only the educated are free.† As concluded by Epictetus (55 AD - 135 AD), Discourse. I then realized I was not free. I want to be free, but how? I asked myself. Do I need to be rich or do I need to be the happiest man on earth? It finally occurred to me after pondering over it for some time. I need to work my way up the very top of the educational ladder and not just quit with a high school diploma nor halfway of my educational journey. I then realized why and how college education is important to me. I have what†¦show more content†¦I want to pursue a college education since I will be setting a good example and become a role model for my younger siblings. I would be a pioneer to be looked up to in my family in terms of ideas to run the family’s company and general opinions about issues. College education is therefore important to me because without it, I cannot count myself as the first p erson in my family to achieve a college education. I therefore agree with the acknowledgement of Horace Mann, (n.d.) As an apple is not in any proper sense an apple until it is ripe, so a human being is not in any proper sense a human being until he is educated.† College education can make me the best among the rest. Not to forget, the chances of getting a better job with a higher salary as a college graduate is higher than a High school graduate. I no longer want to continue flipping burgers as a second job to enable me support my family. With college education, I could be hired as a full time worker in a renowned firm with a higher salary which can take care of my needs. Evolving-into the real world would give me life experience and also enable me meet intellectuals and different people from different walks of life.
